Bali Bird Park

The Live Bird Show in 4D is one of the best attractions of the Bali Bird Park. Organised in a theatre complete with a 4-dimensional display screen and a fully air-conditioned cinema room, this bird show offers you a chance to enjoy watching a wide array of different bird movies.

During the live bird show, you can also learn a lot about the natural habitats, breeding habits and other general information about the different birds within the park, using 4D graphics and state of the art technology. These surround-sound films featuring the birds of the park offer you a chance to feel as though you are experiencing these birds flying freely from up close.

A one-of-a-kind experience and major tourist attraction of the Bird Park in Bali is the Meeting the Komodo Dragon experience. In this show, visitors get a chance to learn how these giant monitor lizards, which are the oldest surviving descendants of dinosaurs from the times immemorial, are taken care of, treated and kept well fed by the park authorities.

In addition to seeing a Komodo Dragon from up close, you can also observe how these reptiles live in their recreated natural habitat within the park. To make your experience an even better one, you can also try your hand at feeding one of these animals during your visit to the Bali Bird Park. The Feeding the Dragons shows take place every week on Tuesdays and Fridays.

When visiting the Bali Bird Park, make sure to head over to the Owl House here. Built with an architecture of the traditional Torajan house common in Bali and the rest of Indonesia, the Owl House is home to a variety of owls which you can witness and catch sights of.

However, one of the major attractions of the Owl House is the Barred Eagle Owl, an endemic owl species from Sumatra, which is known for its unique ears that point to the sides and a rather mysterious appearance. You can also see other Indonesian Owls as well as the Sunda Scops Owl here.

The Pelican Feeding Show in the Bird Park in Bali is amongst its most entertaining shows. Home to the long beak pelicans, in this show, you will be offered a chance to throw a fish (or two) at these large birds, who will then pick it up precisely using their large pointy beaks.

The sights of these birds flapping these imposing beaks in the anticipation of fish are quite unique and beautiful. Once they have picked up the fishes thrown towards them, the pelicans then raise their head facing the sky, balance the fish inside their beak and swallow it soon after. Known as Undan Birds, these pelicans have the most extended beaks in the whole world.

Another popular attraction of the Bali Bird Park is its Rainforest Café, which is located right beside the Pelican Pool. A perfect place to indulge in a delicious dessert, the Rainforest Café is known to offer refreshing tropical juices, delicious homemade ice creams, as well as lip-smacking snacks that you can gorge onto. In addition to the flavourful dishes in the menu, the café also offers stunning views of the nearby lake within the park, which you can soak in whilst enjoying your refreshment here.

Your visit to the Bird Park in Bali will remain incomplete without clicking pictures at the Guyu Guyu Corner. It is here where you can get up close and personal with vibrant bird species, like beautiful macaws and colourful cockatoos, who will fly up and sit on your shoulders while you get this sight clicked on your camera lens.

You can also see stunning wreathed hornbills, as well as the famous Eclectus Parrot couple at the Guyu Guyu Corner, with the male parrot being a shade of bright emerald green and the female parrot a stunning scarlet red.

The Bali Bird Park is home to a wide array of birds native to South America, which you can catch sights of at the eponymous zone within the park. In addition to the stunning Scarlet Macaw, you can also see the magnificent Hyacinth Macaw here, which is the largest parrot in the whole world.

Some of the other South American birds that you can witness within this zone at the park include the Scarlet Ibis, Purple Swamphen, Glossy Ibis, Green Winged Macaw, Buffon Macaw, Blue and Gold Macaw, Love Bird, Orange Winged Amazon, Hahns Macaw, the Red-Fronted Macaw and Swanson’s Toucan.

At the South Africa zone within the Bali Bird Park, you will get a chance to observe the unique African Grey Parrots, which are predominantly known for their ability to mimic human voice, along with a wide range of other bird species belonging to the African Savannah.

In this zone, you can also visit the Flamingo Pool and see the bright-pink coloured birds standing on one of their extremely long legs. Some of the other birds that you can witness in the South African zone are the Violet Turaco, African Grey Crowned Crane, Von der Decken's Hornbill, Ground Hornbill, Purple Glossy Starling, Amethyst Starling, Senegal Parrot and the Laughing Kookaburra.

The Bali Bird Park also has a section dedicated to birds from the deep jungles of the Indonesian island of Sumatra, including the rather strange and rare endemic species like the Eagle Owl, known for its sideways pointing ear tufts and extremely powerful talons. Some of the common birds that you can catch sights of and learn about in this zone includes the Senegal Parrot, Crimson Wing Parakeet, White Crested Hornbill, Bar-pouched Wreathed hornbill, Lesser Coucal as well as the Black Indian Hawk Eagle.

The Bali Bird Park has also beautifully replicated the multi-dimensional ecosystems of Borneo. You can see a wide array of birds from the lowland rainforests to the mist-laden jungles of Borneo in the park. In addition to the Nicobar Pigeon, the Bulwer's Wattled Pheasant and the Great Argus Pheasant, you can also witness the Javan Great Rhinoceros Hornbill, Flying Fox or Fruit Bat, as well as the Crested Serpent Eagle, among other birds.

When visiting the Bali Bird Park, head over to the Papua zone to discover the many exotic birds of this country in the Southwestern Pacific. This zone within the park is a spectacular walk-in aviary, which houses one of the most full-scale collections of Birds of Paradise in the whole world. From the large, flightless Cassowary bird that lives in the dense lowland forests of Papua, to the Western Crowned Pigeon, which is one of the most beautiful pigeons in the whole world and has delicate blue crests around its head, the birds in this zone will render you speechless.

Some of the other birds that you can see here are the Amboina King Parrot, Western Crowned Pigeon, Emerald Ground Dove, Southern-pied Hornbill, Cinnamon Ground Dove, Black Lory, Black-capped Lory, Salvadori's Black-capped Lory, Rainbow lorikeet, White-bellied Imperial Pigeon, and the Racket-tailed Black Drongo, along with the Yellow Streaked Lory, Red Bird of Paradise, Yellow Streaked Lory, Pesquet's Parrot, Red Bird of Paradise and Twelve-wired Bird of Paradise.

At the Java Zone of the Bali Bird Park, you will be able to see rare Serpent Eagles and the Javan Hawk, while also enjoying the sweet sounds of the song birds of Java throughout the verdant zone. You can also see many other birds, like the Banded pitta, Asian Fairy-Bluebird, Asian Pied Starling, Black-naped Oriole, Javan Hawk Eagle, Southern-pied Hornbill, Magpie Robin, Sunda Scops Owl, Fire-tufted Barbet, Purple-backed Starling, Java Sparrow and Moustached parakeet here.
